The silk is shattered in certain parts of this jacket - silk in the 19th century - especially if worn retains damage through sunlight, perspiration, motion (where the bodies bends and twists are usually the first places where silk shatters) - but all of this just makes me feel it is a living and evolving textile.

Look 9: Antique black jupon trimmed in silk
Ruth Ribeaucourt private collection
This is an unusual jupon in the sense that it is a more ‘formal’ skirt but created to look luxurious with very little means. There are certain traces that give away its more humble origins including the many mends that have been made - the owner did not have the means to replace her skirt when it became worn. Two other hints suggest the owner was not wealthy - the skirt is wool with silk flounces to embellish the plain wool skirt - if the owner had the means she would have made a skirt entirely in silk. Another interesting element is the waistband which is made of a hardy striped material and the very rustic waist tie. Inside the waistband are many hand stitches which so beautifully bring the person who wore this skirt to life.
The drawstring waistband would have allowed the woman to wear it through many different phases of womanhood
There are several small halls in this skirts, invisible (or visible) mends and the silk is a little fragile but this is still very beautiful and full of stories.

Note there are a few storage marks at the bottom of the dress. This dress is still starched and unworn and I have not attempted to launder it as it came in its original box as is. Look 20: Early 1900s black silk jacket by Madame Bérard Paris
Ruth Ribeaucourt private collection
This is an incredible work of couture, black silk is embellished with black silk velvet ribbons and silk velvet chenille embroidered eyelets which possibly were tied together with silk velvet ribbons at the time but are no longer attached.
The delicate pink silk structure underneath is shattered in places and the silk that once surrounded the colour is also shattered and no longer intact. The interior is fully boned.
The ribbon attributes this piece to Bérard, 5 Rue de Hanovre, Paris - some of Madame Bérards couture is in the Palais Galliera, musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris.

Price 160 euro PLUS shipping
Look 21: 1800s silk velvet embroidered jacket
Ruth Ribeaucourt private collection
Probably my favourite piece from the collection of important clothing that I purchased including a dissolving 1800s Callot Soeurs jacket.
Incredibly beautiful chinoiserie embroidery work on both front and back.
Note - the collar of this piece is unfinished and there is a little bit of sun fading on the green velvet.
This is a work of art for me, the distressed, storied threads call to me and I am very reluctantly parting with this collection.

This is an incredible silk jacket entirely handmade with intricate boning structure inside. Handmade lace incrustrations and silk black velvet ribbons accent this jacket at the collar.
This was one of the pieces that I found alongside an dissolving 1800s Callot Soeurs jacket. This is a work of art for me, the distressed, storied threads call to me and I am very reluctantly parting with this collection.
Please note that the silk is shattered on the sleeves and throughout on this specific piece - silk in the 19th century - especially if worn retains damage through sunlight, perspiration, motion (where the bodies bends and twists are usually the first places where silk shatters) - but all of this just makes me feel it is a living and evolving textile.

Look 24: Antique lace jupon
Ruth Ribeaucourt private collection
Entirely handmade, hand-stitched, pleated. This skirt is not a long full-length adult size so I believe it was made or adapted for a young girl or woman. In excellent condition, no tears, some very minor marks. Elasticated waist. I believe that this has recently been adapted from a full length, traditional drawstring waist skirt for a more ‘modern’ shorter version which would explain the hand stitched more modern elastic waist.
In perfect wearable condition.
Length 70cm; waist (flat) 31.5cm
Price 65 euro PLUS shipping
Look 25: Communion dress in gauze and intricate floral embroidery
This is one of the most beautiful examples I have ever seen. It’s in gauze, it comes with its bow and its gloves, again you have galore of plis religieuse (pleats), but the most interesting thing here is the embroidery. It is all handmade and it is so intricate and detailed and complex, especially on the skirt. The scalloped edges on the chest are also quite rare, and so is the patter of the embroidery.
The skirt is pleated and has such a dramatic volume. The only default I can see is a small faded yellow stain on the back ( always gentle washing if you want it spotless but honestly, you can barely see it ) two tiny signs of wear on the chest but otherwise I see no holes. Mother of pearl buttons. The hem is doubled. It is truly magnificent. The amount of work that went into this, and the fact that I think it has never been worn, maybe just tried on, made my eyes water.
This dress comes with its original sash (see photos) and crochet gloves (not photographed)
The bow is the most stained item here, but the edge is so breathtaking, with all the plis (pleats) and the scalloped edge.
Shoulders 37cm, Waist 31 cm, Length 106cm, Sleeve 57cm
Priee: 220 euro
Look 26: Thicker cotton Communion dress with embroidery
This is the only communion dress I’d say is really wearable as it is a thicker, sturdier. That is if you are a XXS to a XS. This is still tiny even if it’s sturdy.
It’s got a lot of plis religieuse, lovely symmetrical mechanical embroidered patterns, a darling little collar, mother of pearl buttons at the back and cuffs. I love how wide and flowy the skirt is, how prettily it’s gathered at the waist, how delicate the whole look is. It has some tiny dark spots at the back of one sleeve, and one on the skirt, and also two tiny holes on the chest, including one that has been partially mended. I suspect the other one is from the previous owner having tired to get out the tiny black dots, which is why I didn’t try hard on the other ones.
Shoulders 34cm, Under arms 40cm, Waist 36cm, Length 120cm, Sleeeve 54cm
Price 130 euro
Look 27: Communion dress with handmade floral embroidery and small collar 120
Another marvellous example of communion dress. Also ‘plis religieuse’ on the skirt, but smaller thinner plis that are almost seams, so thin they are. You can find a marvellous floral embroidery on the chest and small Peter Pan collar and on the sleeves. This also has small holes and stains, though barely noticeable and again, you might get them out with very careful and slow washing. The collar is where the colouring from age is most present, also because it would have been the area most in contact with the skin. Mother of pearl tiny buttons. A very very fine voile de coton.
Shoulders 37cm, Waist 40cm, Length 103cm, Sleeve 60cm
Look 28: Communion dress with flouncy collar and pleats
A fine baptiste dress in an amazingly fine voile de cotton, its collar is volanté with a trim of mechanical lace that you can find on the sleeves as well. It has plis religieuses on the skirt and also on the chest, both vertical in horizontal which I have rarely seen. It has tiny mother of pearl buttons at the back. As always with such garments, small tears and stains can occur, though I can only spot one stain on the left arm that might go with a more thorough wash than what I did (soak for hours and gentle soap). It is in very very good condition. It would have been for a small girl
L 100 cm, Shoulders 34cm, Under arm 39cm, Waist 41cm; Sleeve 41cm long and 11cm wide
Price 110 euro
Look 29: Antique handmade lace trimmed jupon
Entirely handmade, late 1800s fine cotton jupon with exquisite hand-embroidered lace. I believe this has never been worn before as it is in perfect condition and the lace trim along the bottom is still starched. Drawstring waist.
Hand embroidered monogram M.M.
Measurements: 106cm length; waist 74cm (measured flat when drawstring is entirely open and not pulled.)
Price 100 euro plus shipping.
Look 30: Antique Provençal jupon
Very heavy thick striped woven fabric (red and white stripe). Two different antique indigo fabrics have been used in a patchwork to create the waistband.
Entirely hand=-sewn with visible repairs at the waist and small rust marks on waistband.
Skirt ties at waist with simple cotton trim at bottom.
Please note that this is a well worn skirt - most probably an everyday skirt for a rural Provençal woman. There are several small pulls but this is still very wearable and the fabric should you choose to recuperate is very strong.
Skirt has a drawstring waist which was designed to adjust to the woman’s body from that of a young woman, to motherhood and all the fluctuations and changes that can occur.
120cm when waist is not cinched. 96.5cm length
Price 130 euro plus shipping
Look 31: Antique 1800s Indigo pique Jupon
Beautiful piqued cotton jupon (traditional Provencal skirt) which is unfinished with scalloped trim at bottom
This has a drawstring waist which is designed to adjust to the woman’s body from that of a young woman, to motherhood and all the fluctuations and changes that can occur.
Note; small rust stain at waistband
Measures 113m (waist untied ), 97.5cm skirt length
Price 120 euro PLUS Shipping
Look 32 Antique Provençal jupon
Skirt ties at waist with hand embroidered scalloped trim at bottom. Monogrammed initials sewn inside ‘L. D.’ Red chevron and white striped heavy cotton flannel. Please note that this is a well worn skirt - most probably an everyday skirt for a rural Provençal woman. There are several small marks and holes but this is still very wearable.
Skirt has a drawstring waist which was designed to adjust to the woman’s body from that of a young woman, to motherhood and all the fluctuations and changes that can occur.
114cm when waist is not cinched. 94cm length
Price 100 euro plus shipping
Look 33: Antique fine cotton hand embroidered jupon
This jupon is an unworn, somewhat unfinished (at the waistband) jupon with incredible hand embroidered whitework along the bottom
126cm waist (unfinished - this would have been finished with a drawstring waist originally).
97cm in length
Note: there is a 19cm section where the pleating is which is torn but it is right beside the seam so technically this could simply be cut and the seam shortened = and given how much fabric there is in this skirt it will still be very large.
Price 90 euro.
Look 34: Antique baptismal robe in silk and tulle
This is an early 1900s baptismal road which is more for decoration than for wearing as the silk tulle is somewhat weathered and there are small marks down the front of the dress where the silk covered buttons close. You could also recuperate and reuse the fabric.
Length 94cm, shoulders 24cm
Price 30 euro plus shipping
VINTAGE & FRIPERIE
Look 35: Mes Demoiselles yellow dots dress
If you’re in dire need of running wildy in a derelict castle because you’ve run out of wildflowers to adorn your 18th century vases, this is your dress. I’ve worn this for the Fallen Aristocrat lookbook by Jamie Beck at Chateau Gudanes, if you think I’m exaggerating.
A voile de cotton dress with hand embroidered yellow dots, little buttons on the chest, so much yardage in the skirt that’s a bit asymetrical for more wow effect on the bottom. Two sets of pleats on the chest and back. Puffed sleeves. This is made for spinning on Ludovico Einaudi tunes while the sun sets. It’s a bit transparent, you could add a slip dress, but I’ve worn it without and never had any problem (again, SO MUCH YARDAGE )
Size 36
Length 134cm, Shoulders 45cm, Elasticated waist 30cm to 45cm easily
Price: 180 euros
Look 36: Sessun William Morris Shirt dress
Private collection of Louise Pascal
A dream of a print on a smart shirt dress, this features a Strawberry Thief William Morris original print. Birds might spontaneously burst into song when you pass by. Sessun is a French brand that I love because they focus more and more on sustainability and waste reduction.
This transitions from spring to summer to autumn depending on how you accessorize it. You have a ribbon belt at the waist if you want it defined, or you can let it flow for a more relaxed look. Like everything they do it’s very well made and tailored with a nice attention to details. It’s a light viscose I think, the label has gone all black. Might also be Lyocell.
Size S
Shoulders 40cm; Waist 58cm, Length 90cm, Sleeve 62cm
Price 60 euro
Look 37:
37 (i) Blumarine pink striped and floral appliqué dress
This is a spectacular piece from Italian brand Blumarine.
A shirt dress with a beautiful striped cotton, dropped shoulders, the craziest sleeves you’ll ever see, and most importantly, hand embroidered flowers appliqués on tulle, and one sequined one that goes over the shoulder. This maybe be one of the most precious garment I ever possessed. It is so well made, and tailored, and so nice to wear. I got so scared of damaging it that I only wore it at fashion week events. I wore it simply as a dress, but I also wore it with a white a line skirt with a mid calf length for added drama, volume and romance. I also recommend wearing it with the Carel Phoenix shoes with the pink ribbons.
Shoulders 56cm, Length 83cm, Under arm 50cm, Waist 46cm
Price 250 euro
37 (ii) Carel calf leather and ribbon shoes
Again, an all time favourite of mine, shoes of my dreams, by French brand Carel in the softest pink calf leather with satin ribbons. The only reason I’m selling these is because they are too big for me. You can tie the ribbons high or low, you can do a lot of things. I’ve worn them twice, at fashion week. It’s an Italian 39, so that would be a 39 to a 39,5 European size, a 5,5 to a 6 UK a 7,5 to an 8 US. I hope that helps. I am a European 38 and they are way too big for me.
They have very light scuff marks from wearing them on the inside of the shoes, but again, they were worn only twice
Heels are 5cm
Price 120 euro
Look 38: 1950s French Riviera couture dress
(Ruth Ribeaucourt personal collection)
Measurements: waist 32.5cm; 100cm length; 43.5cm shoulder; 47cm armpit;
This dress was made bespoke for a lovely French lady for a special event by a seamstress in Nice in the 1950s. Pink cotton candy striped satin dress. White fabric has a discreet chevron motif
Please note; This dress is missing one button (at the very bottom). The matching belt with faux mother of pearl buckle. has some small marks visible but please know that this dress is not laundered so there is likely some dust / marks that will come out after laundering
Price 65 euro PLUS Shipping
Jacquemus Hat (Not for Sale)
Look 39:
39 (i)Vintage homemade green skirt
Such a fun little skirt that will fit a 36/38. Handmade and partially hand stitched. Lined with polyester and the main fabric feels like a crêpe. I love this print, again, way too big for me I wore it with a dropped waist but it’s supposed to lie at your actual waist and not your hips. A favourite of mine for Spring !
W35 cm, L67cm
Price: 30 euro
39 (ii) Oscar de La Renta Linen shirt with ruffles
A wonderful chic linen number, with ruffles on the collar, on the chest and on the sleeves, a chic yet easy shirt for your summer nights out. It’s made in Italy and labeled a size 4 ( so a 38 European ? Am I correct ?). It’s in perfect condition, no stains, no signs of wear, it will be great with pants, and will dress up a black skirt. Get yourself some gold heels and you’re the queen of the Venice Biennale, and looking effortless on top of that.
Shoulders 39cm, Under arms 48cm, Length 68cm, Sleeves 63cm
Price 50 euro
Look 40: Scarlet Roos Art déco silk dress plus Etam star slip
A lovely little babydoll dress with an exquisite art déco print in one of my favourite greens. The dress is pure silk, I cut the label because it showed. I paired it with an Etam slip with litlle silver stars that looks like it was made for it, the stars just peek from the decolleté it’s lovely. But you could find a nude slip if you’d like it better. I love the details of the sleeves, so delicate how they open on the arms. I wore this with or without a belt. A little fairy dress
Shoulders 35cm; Length 85cm
Price 30 euro
Look 41: Handmade vintage dress green flowers
My grandma made that and she was good at making things. It’s very fifties, in a flowery synthetic fabric. A lovely collar with a small bow hidden underneath. Gathered at the waist for maximum flowyness. Zipper at the side. A vintage dream. It’s handstitched.
Shoulders 50cm, Length 90cm, Waist 35cm
Price: 50 euro
Look 42: Vintage Fruit Salad ensemble
(Louise Pascal personal collection)
Top:
Shoulders 35cm; Waist 37cm; Armpits 45cm; Manches 41cm; Length 48cm
Skirt:
waist 31cm; Length 98cm
Price: 140 euro PLUS shipping
Another stunning piece that pinches my heart to let it go .. I call it the fruit salad ensemble because of the pattern. You have strawberries and oranges and apple there, as well as flowers and a abreast blue pattern on the skirt. This is entirely hand made, and again by someone who knew what she/he was doing.
The top is very intricate, two puff sleeves with elasticated ends, closed by buttons in the front and tied at the waist with a ribbon, it has three flat pleats between the bosom and the waist. The level of craftsmanship is very high.
This is a synthetic fabric, I don’t know what exactly, probably a type of viscose or polyester, and was probably made in the 70/80s. The fabric has frayed a bit on the inside of the skirt from the friction and because the edges are cut raw, but the stitches prevent it from fraying further.
Closed with a zip and a clasp on the skirt. The skirt is tiny, definitely an XS or a small S. The top would benefit of having some more breast than I do, but fits lovely an XS S
Look 43: Kimono ensemble
(Louise Pascal private collection)
Jacket:
Sleeves 32cm; Shoulders 65c; Length 62cm
Skirt:
length 98cm; Waist is adjustable with straps
Price 160 euro for ENSEMBLE PLUS shipping
This is one of the most stunning pieces, it is an entirely handmade, hand stitched kimono inspired ensemble, made of a light blue, purple and brown brocade of flowers that in itself is marvellous. The lining is made of white and purple silk. The top is tied with straps on the inside, velcro straps on the front for a perfect tombé, and push buttons ( it will NOT open ! )
The sleeves are rounded and not square shaped like you would expect a kimono to be, with makes it even more elegant. The back is a bit gathered by two large pleats at the bottom the shirt, going into a waistband which gives definition to the waist. The skirt is entirely adjustable because it is a wrap, so you could wear this from an XS to an L. Also fully lined with white and purple silk. I don’t know who made this but it was obviously an excellent seamstress, everything is impeccable and it is in incredible condition .
Look 44 Vintage 1970s Benetton dress pink daisies 50
(Louise Pascal private collection)
Armpits 42cm, Waist 38cm, Length 120cm
Price 55 euro PLUS shipping
This is an old Benetton dress, from the 70s, and an Italian size 42, however I’d say its a S for nowadays. It has a pattern of pink daisies with a yellow heart. Closes with buttons, the waist fall pretty low on your hips, and the three flounces gives the skirt a lovely made to twirl volume. It could be worn with either the buttons facing forward or backwards, and then you’ll have a round collar o the front. It’s in a impeccable condition, and looks brand new, the cotton is top quality.
Look 45: Sézane broderie anglaise top
From French brand Sézane, which sold out immediately, a lovely cotton lace top in pale pink cotton. Your romantic yet modern blouse. Features back buttons and a flowery pattern. This is so light and nice to wear in summer. You can then go on and recite some Chekov to your court of spurned lovers while your hair gently falls apart in the cherry blossoms.
Size 38
Width 36cm shoulder to shoulder; Length 55cm
Price 40 euro
Look 46: Forte Forte dress
From high end Italian brand Forte Forte, a marvellous summer dress with a lovely tiny yellow and black print. Forte Forte has some of the best cotton on the market right now, and this feels like heaven when worn.Pleats on the chest with buttons you can close all the way up or leave open. Two ribbons at the waist, the skirt is fully lined. I’ve worn this in winter with a cream sweater and boots and it was exquisite. A very versatile piece, and so romantic. The skirt is slightly longer behind, makes for such an elegant silhouette. Also it has pockets, because even if you’re a dream of a romantic woman, you still need pockets for all these things you need to carry.
Size 1 which is a 36-38
Shoulders 45cm; Waist 45cm; Length 110cm
Price 140 euro
Look 47:
47 (i) Paul and Joe pink striped linen suit
A very elegant looking Paul and Joe summer suit, in a pink cotton and linen blend, and stripes that are made of very fine black dots. The jacket if fully lined. Attention. While the blazer and pants are labeled 38, I’d say the blazer is a 36 and the pants a 34. This is a dashing ensemble, I’ve mostly worn it as separates, but it is so elegant worn together. It has three pockets on the jacket and two on the pants, plus two back pockets that are still sewn.
There are pen marks on the back of a sleeve which is why I put a low price on a garment that is otherwise so well cut and with such a nice fabric.
Jacket: Shoulders 37cm, Under the arms 45cm, L 45cm
Pants: Waist 37cm, Hips 46cm L 95cm
Price for two piece suit 60 euro
47 (ii) Iro skirt with kodama prints 60 euros
A lovely pure silk skirt by French brand Iro, wth what I call a kodama print because it makes me think of Miyazaki’s adorable tree spirits. Cream silk with light purple print. It is entirely lined in silk. All the skirt fabric is pleated and features a criss cross pattern on top that elongates the silhouette, and then widens fr a lovely flowy effect on the bottom. Very very well made
Size 36
Width 36cm, Length 64cm
Price for skirt 60 euro
Look 48: Vanessa Bruno silk Tank top
This is from the SS13 Vanessa Bruno collection that I’m buying piece by piece since it came out because I love it so much. It is pure silk, so damn elegant. I wore this with silk pants, with men’s blazers, with smart jackets, with woolen pants, with skirts of all shapes, and it makes everything so elegant and smooth. That pink and that cream together is a dream. It’s like a feminine take on a tuxedo somehow. It’s got the tiniest pull thread front that I have just now noticed because I’m measuring it, but it doesn’t really shows. It closes with a zipper. It fits like a glove for a true size S ( too big for me and I’m an XS )
Size: S
Under arm 44cm, Length 54cm, Tank top 32cm
Price 50 euro
Look 49: Grey green and Purple floral appliqué dress
Lovely dress in a voile de coton in a grey/green colour with very discreet stripes. Very pretty floral appliqués on the pointed sleeves. Comes with a silk slip dress. Ties at the waist with two ribbons and elastics that are a bit worn out, but still in good use. This is very well made in Italy, also lovely in autumn with tights. Vest for a 36/38
Shoulders 40cm, Waist 44 cm, L 100cm
Price 30 euro
Look 50:
50 (i)Vintage white romantic blouse with tulle insert
Oh the romance the romance. A vintage number with thrills, tulle, buttons, bell sleeves, a ruffle collar, and that widens a lot so it could be worn from a size 0 to a size 3/4 easily. A little Victorian inspired fantasy in a lovely cotton. There’s buttons at the sleeves but I never use them. It’s light and flowy and elegant.
Shoulders 45cm, Length 63cm, Sleeve 53cm, Under arm 65cm
Price 30 euro
50 (ii) Jupe IKKS size 38
A lovely skirt with ruffles, with a bit of gold glitter at the center of the pink part, very flowy. There’s a discreet flowery print on the top part. Tones of cream and butter yellow and dusty pink
There’s a small spot that I wasn’t able to rub off, because it’s very fine cotton and I was afraid to make a hole. It’s on the bottom of the skirt and not very noticeable
Largeur 38 cm,
Price 20 euros
Look 51:
Part i. Cotelac Dusty rose blouse/jacket
Oh gosh I love this one, but it’s too big for me . I adore the square neckline. A woven cotton and polyester fabric with a discreet shine and a marvellous colour that I think is so flattering for all skin tones, it makes you look so rosy cheeked. It could be use both as a top and as a light summer jacket. Closes with lovely mother of pearl buttons. Pleats under the bosom that makes a nice flowy effect. Pair it with pants or jeans or a skirt for instant chic.
Size 2; Shoulders 38cm; Under arm 50cm; Length 50cm;
Price 30 euro plus shipping
Part ii. Libellule wrap skirt
A delicate cotton wrap skirt in dusty purple flower printed base with a transparent blue and purple overlay with softly glittering flowers. I love these colours together. This again transitions well into autumn, the fabric is so soft to the touch, an easy yet adorable skirt. You could technically wear it both sides though the overlay is so cute, I’ve never done it. Long long ribbons to tie it around our waist
One size; Width 105cm; Length 73cm
Price 25 euro plus shipping
Look 52: Tutu striped skirt
A very voluminous striped skirt that is a joy to wear. Such a fun thing to spin into.
Size 40
Makes for a wonderful silhouette. Fun in summer, fun in winter, it’s in cotton lined with synthetic inside. In pristine condition, I wore it once. Closes with two buttons and a zipper
Largeur 36cm: Length 68 cm
Price: 30 euros
Look 53: Vanessa Bruno pink cashmere sweater
Oh gosh how I love this alas it has always swallowed me. A marvellous pink, soft cashmere and wool blend, with ruffled details on the chest and on the large open sleeves. Few signs of wear along the waist. It will look better on someone who actually has something going on on the chest, and will fit a size 36 to a size 40 easily. Featured in this summer sale because colour, and because it has felt like October the whole past month in Paris and sometimes you do need a fun sweater because the beach got cold at night.
This is so fun, seriously. I wish it fit me better. Be your dream ballerina dancer. Be your cool Swedish neighbor who can pull off any look. Be me but with a bosom. Wear this for me I beg you.
