I live in a tiny prairie town in the middle of Canada with my husband of thirty years. Population 1200-ish. Our two boys (now men) live a bit away, but not too far. My family moved to this town when I was twelve. This is the same town my Dad was born and raised in. Today, my parents live across the street. How completely wonderful is that?

Twenty eight years ago when we were looking for our first home, my childhood dream home came up for sale. This was the house I had told my friend I wanted to live in some day. As I flipped through the local newspaper, there it was. I couldn’t believe my eyes. A century old, two-story brick house. It was LOVE at first sight. I looked at my husband and said, “this is the one!”. Miraculously it all worked out (for so many reasons bigger than my dream house.)

It is this old house that sparked ‘the artist’ in me……..to be continued
